Gail Cotter Buckley

Gail has over twenty nine years’ experience in the hospitality industry specializing in the licensed trade sector.  She has vast experience including being on national judging panels, consultancy work for drinks companies and conducting research.

Gail continues to lecturer at Cork Institute of Technology, where for twenty-one years she has worked in the Tourism & Hospitality Department and specializes in beverages and management of the beverage industry.

During this time Gail has developed and designed the Bachelor of Business in Bar Management programme and written modules for other programmes including Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management.

Gail is accountable for the Training Bar facility, including stock purchasing and control. Equipment maintenance and general organisation of this resource. Approved as a GUEST Trainin for the Mixology and Bartenidng courses, Gail has also developed and delivers professional night classes in Bar Service Operations and Mixology for the Collage.

Responsible for the organisation of various events within the department, for example national charity fundraisers, competitions and the reception for the annual School of Humanities Award ceremony.

Gail has also trained students for many competitions over the years, both nationally and internationally. For example, the beverage section of the National Apprentice in Food & Beverage Service, The Cote du Rhone Sopexa Sommelier competition and numerous cocktail competitions. Recent successes include first place at the National Student Hospitality Cocktail Competition at Catex in 2015, Second Place in 2014 and The Gold medal at the AEHT Cocktail and Bar competition in 2014.
