Karen Dolman

 Karen has over 25 years’ experience within the Hospitality and Tourism Industry, from a top Central London Hotel to first class services onboard the QE2.

Starting her service and hospitality career in a number of junior service and valet roles, Karen worked her way up to Services Manager at a 4 star, 900 bedroom hotel in London, where Karen ensured high levels of service within her teams. She was also responsible for the training and managing the staff at the hotel’s restaurant and cocktail bar.

In the early 90’s Karen worked for Cunard Line Ltd onboard The QE2 as Stewardess for the First Class Cabin Services.  She went on to be promoted within the company as a Food cost control analyst, working within the galley departments.   

Karen’s career moved ashore after 5 years at sea, and she worked as the Operations Manager for a Victorian Heritage Manor House in the UK where she was able to showcase her flare with event management and wedding planning as well as the responsibilities of the F & B management for 130+ covers in the restaurant.  

A career gaining a variety of skills, Karen then spent 6 years working for Sun Cruises as the Purchasing Manager for the three Cruise Ships where she supported the Ship owners and Operators from sourcing supplies, delivery within budgets, to liaising and coordinating with the various parties.

More recently Karen has been approved as a GUEST training and is concentrated on sharing her passion for, and knowledge of the maritime industry with students at the National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI), encouraging students to venture into a career at sea.
